Titus 3:9 (New International Version) But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.
I remember when I was nearly done with Seminary and one of my aunts asked me a question about theology. It was a question about which there is no clear answer in the Bible and men have argued endlessly. It was about the order of events at the end of time. There are many different opinions and honestly the Bible gives us some room for differences of opinion. People do not always give so much room. We either agree with then or we are borderline heretics. (Maybe not even borderline.) Anyway, my aunt wanted to know what I thought about it and I had no desire to argue with her. (Aunt Nell loved a good argument.) I told her I did not think it mattered much what I thought about it.
I asked her this question: "How many people are going to be lost or won to Christ based on where they stand on this issue?" She said, "Well, none really. It does not effect salvation, it is a doctrinal question." I said, "Aunt Nell, that is why it doesn't matter! The only thing that matters is the things that brings people into the kingdom of God."
Sometimes we focus on the minors and let the major things escape us. That is unfortunate. We need to major on major and minor on minors. We need to work at showing folks that we love them and Jesus loves them. The order of events in the end times is going to take care of itself. None of us is in charge of that. God will work that out, not us.We can be right or wrong and still win someone to Christ if our heart is right with Him. Paul said to argue about such things is Unprofitable and useless... Let's not get involved in useless things...
